About us

Meet the team

We’re passionate about creating the world's best social network software.

A bit of history

In 2007, SocialEngine founders Alex Benzer and Charlotte Genevier witnessed an obvious trend: the long tail of the social web was being born. Thousands of people, inspired by the fledging mainstream social networks, were beginning to create their own niche community websites. At the time, it was clear that the tools available for creating social networks were truly inadequate. Alex and Charlotte took this opportunity to build their own.

SocialEngine has evolved rapidly since its launch in 2007. Now in its fourth version, our community platform has been used by over 4,500 individuals, hobby groups, professional organizations, schools, institutions, and all kinds of other people, cumulatively hosting millions of end users. We continuously strive to improve SocialEngine and make it more accessible to all kinds of social network creators.

A day in the life

We like to get things done. We also like to have a bit of fun doing it. If you'd like to buy us pizza or a carton of diet coke to help us perform at our best, we should talk.

Alex Benzer

Alex Benzer

Director

Alex is SocialEngine's original designer and one of its co-founders. He now helps guide our development, marketing, and support teams to continue growing the company. A committed fanboy of beat music and experimental visual art, anything that has lots of lights, bleeps, and buttons will hold his attention for an inordinate length of time.

Charlotte Genevier

Charlotte Genevier

Director

SocialEngine's co-founder and original developer, Charlotte specializes in the exploration and rapid development of new ventures. When she's not programming or wearing her entrepreneur hat, you can find her in the gym pursuing her powerlifting aspirations, or sipping a glass of Bordeaux in an attempt to expand her knowledge of wine.

John Boehr

Noam Katz

Noam Katz

Project Coordinator

Noam is one half entrepreneur, one half coordinator, one half programmer, one half musician and one half soccer star. That's right. Noam has five halves.

Jung Ho Kim

Jung Ho Kim

Engineer

Jung Ho Kim was this close to becoming an astronaut, but due to NASA's ridiculous requirements for PhDs and actual "flight" experience, he chose the more noble pursuit of computer programming. But fret not, space travel will commence in the near future.

Stephen Packer

Stephen Packer

Development Coordinator

Stephen specializes in dorking out with Linux and PHP, preferably while drinking coffee. If you see him and he's not looking at a computer monitor or mobile device, chances are he has been abducted; please call Emergency Services.

Bryan Martin

Bryan Martin

Visual Designer

The left and right halves of Bryan's brain live peacefully together to make his head a creative, practical place to design stuff. Along with a good helping of laid-back obsession, it's helped him push, prick, mold, and canoodle pixels into shape for over a decade.
